'Head in the Sand'- Conceptual, Mixed Media Collage.
‘This large scale collage was a personal reflection on my own environmental impact as an artist. I collected remnant resin over a period of months and was shocked at how much waste i was presented with. I incorporated this into the work and as a result had to re-evaluate my own practice. I adore the medium of resin due to its sensory tactile nature. The idea that objects can effectively be captured, as a moment in time like a treasured memory really resonates with me. However, as a result of this very literal realisation, I have decided to explore different mediums for my future collections. I felt like this piece is a very honest, confessional awakening, that is both thought provoking and beautiful.’ Hannah Aria
This stunning work of art has been exhibited at The Minories Galleries, Colchester as part of the Beyond Plastic Exhibition, was given pride of place at Art on the Prom with ‘See Suffolk’ and also featured in the Front window of 142 Gallery, Hamilton Road as part of the Micro-Plastics exhibition, Felixstowe. The sensory nature of the piece has captivated the hearts of many. When positioned in the light it creates beautiful rainbow like reflections. The mica pigments have iridescent qualities that sparkle and shine.
